It is December and it is cold, the snow and ice will be arriving soon.  If you have not already, it is time to get your garage prepped for the winter.

Winterize Items

Time to store away the gas-powered seasonal tools for another winter.  Be sure to empty gas from lawnmowers, leaf blowers, etc.  Gas up the snow blower and get the shovels and other winter tools moved into an area that is easy to access.

Insulation helps to keep the garage warmer by keeping the cold air out and the warm air in.  Insulating your attached garage will also help keep our home’s utility bills down during the winter months.  If you use your garage for projects or want to store cold sensitive items investigate installing heating to warm up the garage even more.

Get the Car in the Garage

If you are not looking forward to those frigid mornings and scraping ice off the windshield, it is time to figure out how to organize the garage to get the car inside.  Consider installing some wall cabinets and shelving to make room for the car.

Look Up for Organization

Create even more floor space for the car by installing overhead shelves or look up even further to the attic area, installing an attic ladder and opening up the space between the ceiling and room creates even more floor space and gets things up and out of the way.

Seal the Floor 

Once you get the car in the garage, consider having the concrete sealed to prevent any salt damage this winter.
